People are still confused about what is the best approach to Healthful eating. And understandably. Is it low fat? low carb? no butter? more meat? organic? grass fed?
Yes, more vegetables and less cookie dough. But even your veggie tray can be bad for you.
Hopefully you’ve checked out the “dirty dozen” (the produce that is sprayed with the most or the most harmful pesticides) and are buying organic options or spray-free, local produce instead. In short: if you’re buying celery, cucumber, spinach, apples, broccoli and berries, go organic! Carrots, cauliflower, avocados and tomatoes, not as necessary.
If there is ONE thing you can do to greatly impact your health, EAT MORE PLANTS!
(not the poisonous ones though)
You know, I try to follow the organic dirty list. But even for this blessed family, the price of certain organic veggies in winter is monstrous! (Especially bell peppers and cucumbers.) Makes me sad. Guess it just means I should pick other veggies then. BUT it’s summer now, and produce is as cheap as walking to my back yard garden! Yay! Eat more plants!
Yay summer and its bounty!
We just discovered blackberries in our yard!
May get hungry this winter though living off the land!
What!? You can’t freeze enough blackberries from your yard to get you through winter? Haha! Well, maybe you’d be better served to ferment it and drink through the winter. (Ha!)
