Alas Summer’s gone. Hopefully you’ve frozen some strawberries to get you through the winter months. Some folks feel you should only eat what’s in season. I agree with this to some extent, but this smoothie recipe is one to enjoy Summer, Spring and Fall! It would probably be fun with a splash (or two) of Rum in a daiquiri form, but that may negate some of the healthy potential of this delicious treat! That’s for you, not me, to decide! Use the optional superfood ingredients below if you are looking for that healthy, energy boost, but don’t worry they’re not essential to the YUM-factor or the Healing Power!
In a blender combine the following:
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup filtered water
1 handful of spinach
4 frozen organic strawberries (or ripe, if you’ve got them)
1 handful of organic red grapes (mine were frozen)
1 Tbsp of goji berries (optional)
1 tsp of plant-based protein powder (optional)
I haven’t read up much on gogi berries. Wondering what their potential is supposed to be.
Goji berries have been used in healing for centuries, have 18 different amino acids, phytosterols, and carotenoids, among other essential vitamins and trace minerals.
I use organic non GMO from essential living foods.
They are a little tougher/harder/dryer than a raisin, but are way more delicious!
Unfortunately they are pretty spendy, like $18-20/ lb. so I try and load up when they’re on sale in the bulk isle at our food co-op

Thank you. I have had them in a trail mix once but never knew really what they were supposed to offer.
